Gene In the Piazza in Vaison

Gene In the Piazza in Vaison

Friday the 13th already.  So glad I’m not superstitious!  It’s gonna be a great day :). The past two days have been spent settling in with unpacking, food shopping, barber shop (I wouldn’t let Gene get his hair cut until I got here),trip to the fabric store to replace cushions on his 2 armchairs in the living room (in Vaison) and hiking up the mountain behind his house.  That was a 1 1/2 hour hike.  I wanted to die.  My thighs were killing me. I’m used to walking around the lake on flat ground.  This was a vertical walk.  Although the downside was easy.

Did I forget to mention eating? It’s all about the food here.  We buy our crusty bread every day (90 cents a loaf). We bought a small case of wine (6 pack) for 11.86 euros.  (that would be around $3. per bottle).  The groceries are so much cheaper too.   Even prescription medicine is so inexpensive compared to the United States.

All day long I listen to churchbells from the Eglise de St. Denis (a 10th century church) just 40 steps from Gene’s front door.  It’s not open often, but it was yesterday and we went inside and lit candles for our loved ones (you’re included).  Hope you like the pictures.

If a picture is truly worth a thousand words then my blog is over 5,000. words.  (My lame excuse for keeping my blogs short.)  I’m off.  My tour guide is waiting.

A bientôt! (See you soon)

Dee
