Oh I Believe In Yesterday

We come into contact with so many people in the course of our lives.  People touch our lives in different ways.  Some enrich our lives by opening our eyes to a new way of life.

People come into our lives for a reason.  I believe it’s all about growth.  We need to learn certain lessons from them as part of our personal journey.

Learning to be grateful for all the special moments is so helpful when our paths separate.  I find that meditation helps us to view change as a positive force.  And, to reflect on the gifts that each person brings to a relationship.

In spite of all the heady spiritual analysis, the “heart
still has a mind of its own.”  I want to share what I
wrote as I prepared for my friend’s flight on his journey
to a place that brings him greater happiness.

Yesterday…All my troubles seemed so far away….

(Paul McCartney really knew what he was talking about, didn’t he?)

So many yesterdays in my life…

So many wonderful times to reflect upon…

So many indecisive moments leading to bad outcomes

So many decisive moments leading to great outcomes

Missed opportunities and yet new perspectives gained

So many hopes left behind

So many thoughts of you

So much love and respect

So much comfort when I needed it most

The gentleness of your touch

The warmth in your eyes

So much pain and internal conflict

Endless conversations

Diminished hopes

Knowing you deserve more

Oh, I believe in yesterday for me

But, I believe in tomorrow for you

And the greatest love story of all time.

In case you were wondering, I did need a tissue or two while writing this.  I felt a little like Diane Keaton in the movie “Something’s Gotta Give.”  But, the good news is I have a smile on my face today.

Actually, tomorrow is a really good thing to believe in too!

You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be really something that I think I would never understand. It seems too complex and extremely broad for me. I’m looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang of it!

It may be confusing if you didn’t know the words to the song “Yesterday.” It’s about saying or doing something that you wish you hadn’t and you can’t take it back. So you long for yesterday. But,life changes and you get second chances sometimes and even better experiences. It’s not easy at all, but worth it!
